Preparing for Lammastide

The full bounty of the harvest season is upon us, and the first of the Pagan harvest holidays approaches.  This season, we honor the natural cycle of abundance with services, classes and events.

July Earth Centered Spirituality Service
Sunday, July 17th, 11:30 am

CORN HUSK DOLLOur Earth-centered Spirituality Group meets on the 3rd Sunday of each month in the Chapel at 11:30 am (summer schedule). This time provides an opportunity to focus on the Sixth Source of Unitarian Universalism: “Spiritual teachings of earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.” Join us for our July meeting (led by Irene).

This month’s Earth Service will focus around Lammas/Lughnassadh traditions. We will be making Corn Dollies during the service to bring the Spirit of the Harvest into our homes. We will provide corn husks, yarn and raffia for stuffing. Your Corn Dolly can contain almost anything – feel free to bring along any herbs, small crystals, trinkets or anything else you’d like to incorporate.  Link to Facebook event.

13466405_10201817112786101_5409022108425060973_nCome enjoy the beauty and peace of the Labyrinth by the light of the full moon! The labyrinth will be illuminated from 8:30 pm till 10:30 pm. Everyone is welcome. Weather permitting, this will be an outdoor, drumming walk. The first hour will be a quiet walk, the second hour drumming, so feel free to bring hand drums and other percussion instruments. If you haven’t walked a Labyrinth before, there is no ceremony or ritual. We put out the little flickering LED tealights and keep the space open. For an in-depth article on Labyrinths and what to expect at one of our open walks, visit this linkLink to Facebook event.
